A reproduction of Fort Necessity, on the original site in Pennsylvania. This wooden stockade was built by British troops and militia under command of Col. George Washington, during the French and Indian War. Washington's garrison fought bravely, but was forced to withdraw after being overrun by overwhelming numbers of French troops and their Indian allies.
